Hahahaha who knew 48 hours could be so interesting. I am going to have to make this as quick as possible because let's just say WiFi isn't as easy as stopping by the closest McDonalds like in the US. But other than that South Africa is as close to America as it get's it seems like. I am going to start off with a quick thanks to whoever reads this and the next 10 or so blogs that I will try to post every Saturday on my day off. I truly truly believe Jesus is going to use this to not just "broaden your horizens" or any of that boring stuff that people think I am coming here for. This is to give you wisdom and understanding on not only what the most troubled continent in the world is going through but how Jesus is the only way to have pure Joy and passion that doesn't fade in this world. It's time to start watching the poorest of the poor and see how in the world they have the fullest of Joy! Hahahaha I don't care if you'r not excited yet because you will be after my third or fourth blog when stories begin to change your life from the inside out.
This blog is going to be quick as I am only on day 3 of the trip (still without my first shower) and because I am paying for 30 minutes of WiFi. Although the trip started 3 days ago the journey began at camp earlier this summer when God gave me my first clue to me going to Harvest Mission School in Pemba Mozambique. I believe the Lord wants to change the way we view the Gospel and quit trying to win people over with apologetics. "The Gospel is not of talk but of POWER". It was a week or so before leaving for camp as I was really starting to wonder what I would do next semester if I didn't get into this school. It was that day when I looked over at a kid on the bus writing down his address on a piece of paper. He lived on Iris lane. Iris is the name of the ministry that I am at (portuguese for rainbow). After that the Lord still began to tell me that I only need to know my next step "The Word is the lamp unto my feet"only knowing my next step. I knew I was going home after camp and that was all that mattered. I got home on sunday July 12th. On Monday July 13th I recieved my acceptance letter to Iris Harvest School of Missions. God is faithful there is no if ands or buts, he's just waiting for people to actually live like that and not just say it. He than told me to be what in the world's eyes would be foolish and not even think about the $7,000 I had to raise in a month and half. My mom sat there and laughed at me continually for about 2 weeks saying you will never get the money, and my dad still didn't believe I was going to go, or thought he could hold me from going (Love you guys!!!) Well about 2 months later I had more than enough money, needless to say they are much more supportive now haha. A quick testimony of God's power and goodness
About 2 weeks before I left I was a couple hundred dollars short and was wondering how it was going to come in. Well than I remembered when in the it Bible sais we must give in order to recieve. So I said Lord you know I need more money I don't need to tell you but here is $100 to a non profit knowing in Faith that I would recieve it back and more. 5 minutes later I was praying with a group of old friends who I hadn't talked to in forever. After we were done praying one of them looked at me and said "I need to give you $100". I then began to laugh and cry. I also recieved the rest of my money and more in the next week. It's not a testimony of my obediance but an example that if we live by the Bible it's going to be "radical"in some peoples eyes but it's normal in God's.
So the journey has been very hard and awesome at the same time! I have slept maybe 8 hours in the last 45 hours and it's been awesome. South Africa is just as lost as America and I am so excited to get on my plane to Mozambique to see the true bush of Africa. My 30 minutes is up!!! I love you guys so much Jesus is the only satisfaction remember that as I was hoping in coming to Africa he reminded me Im not here to travel or see cool things. I am here to seek God and we can do that wherever we are!
